Samsung Pay is Samsung Electronics' wallet service that tokenizes cards for payment on Galaxy devices, and in Europe it operates on a tokenized-card basis in select markets including Sweden. This guide is for merchants looking to broaden coverage of Android users in Sweden.
Sweden is a leading cashless market where cash payments have fallen below 10%, and most consumers are accustomed to tokenized-card-based online payments. Samsung Pay is a wallet that operates in select European markets — including Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK, and Sweden is one of them. The European service works by tokenizing a registered card and authorizing it through in-app or web checkout, so it's best evaluated from an online-payment perspective.
It suits merchants aiming to offer one-touch, card-entry-free payment to the Galaxy user base — especially digital services with a large share of mobile web or in-app purchases. Pairing it with Apple Pay for iOS coverage and Google Pay for device-agnostic coverage completes the wallet-payment lineup, while Swish, the national app, covers account-based payment demand.
When a consumer selects a card registered with Samsung Pay, a token is transmitted instead of the actual card number, and the payment is approved through biometric authentication such as a fingerprint. This biometric authentication satisfies PSD2's Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements, which helps reduce drop-off from additional authentication steps. After approval, Hecto Financial receives the proceeds in SEK.
Integrating through Hecto Financial lets a Korea-based corporation consider adopting Samsung Pay payments without a separate local contract in Sweden. Actual support availability and terms (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by merchant industry and transaction volume, so confirmation with Hecto Financial's sales team is required before contracting.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration will be available for a specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through consultation.

Integration method and priority vary depending on your mix of online sales channels — owned storefront, marketplaces, mobile apps, etc.

Confirm compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
Samsung Pay is only a wallet layer, so the flow of funds is the same as the underlying card payment. Hecto Financial receives proceeds in Swedish kronor, converts them, and settles to the Korean merchant in whichever currency — USD, KRW, or JPY — was selected under contract, and refunds are processed as voids or partial refunds against the original card. Since the EU-wide 14-day withdrawal right also applies to Swedish consumers, it's a good idea to spell out refund-processing deadlines in your customer service policy.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Swedish market.
