Google Pay is Google's wallet, which tokenizes a saved card for payment on Android devices and in Chrome. In Poland, where Android holds a high share, it functions as the effective default wallet for card-based payments, and this page sets out adoption criteria from the perspective of how it divides roles with BLIK.
The Polish smartphone market is majority Android, and the practice of registering bank cards on mobile devices is well established. As a result, Google Pay is the lowest-friction wallet path for Polish consumers who pay by card. Where BLIK is the standard for account-based code payments, Google Pay is the complementary channel that absorbs card payment traffic with a single wallet button.
For shops with a high share of mobile web traffic, games and subscription services with frequent in-app payments, or merchants seeing drop-off on the card entry form, simply adding a Google Pay button leaves room to improve card payment completion rates. It is recommended to keep BLIK as the top priority while displaying Google Pay alongside it for card users.
When the consumer taps the Google Pay button, the card saved to their account is passed as a token, and approval is completed via device unlock authentication (biometric or PIN). This authentication flow simplifies compliance with the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) required by PSD2, reducing drop-off caused by an additional 3DS screen. Funds are received by Hecto Financial in Polish zloty (PLN), converted, and then settled to the Korean merchant.
Integrating through Hecto Financial lets a Korea-registered corporation consider adopting Google Pay payments without a separate local contract in Poland. Actual support availability and terms (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by the merchant's industry and transaction volume, so confirmation with Hecto Financial's sales team is required before signing a contract.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee actual integration availability for any specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through a consultation.
Confirm whether a contract is possible on the basis of a Korea-registered business
The integration approach and priority differ depending on your mix of online sales channels, such as your own store, open marketplaces, or a mobile app
Advance confirmation is needed on whether your products fall under categories restricted by Google Pay's merchant policy
Confirmation is needed on compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
As a card transaction, funds from Google Pay payments are generated in Polish zloty (PLN); Hecto Financial receives them locally, converts them, and settles the Korean merchant in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was chosen under contract. Refunds are processed by canceling the original payment, and setting a refund processing deadline that also accounts for the 14-day withdrawal request allowed under EU consumer protection rules helps reduce the potential for disputes.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review a payment-method mix suited to the Polish market.
