Billie is a B2B-only BNPL service operated by Berlin-based Billie GmbH, structured to provide corporate buyers with a post-purchase invoice while paying sellers upfront. The starting point for this page is that it is not a general consumer (B2C) payment method.
In Germany, business-to-business transactions still standardly follow a practice of paying within roughly 30 days of an invoice being issued. The problem is that this practice is hard to replicate as-is in online B2B commerce; Billie performs a real-time corporate credit assessment at checkout, giving the purchasing company the familiar payment term it expects while giving the seller upfront payment and a transfer of receivables risk.
It suits B2B storefronts with recurring corporate purchases, such as office supplies, industrial goods, or software, or businesses looking to add a corporate purchasing option to a B2C store. If you sell purely to B2C consumers, you should consider consumer-facing buy-now-pay-later options such as Klarna or Riverty instead of Billie.
When a purchasing company selects the post-purchase option at checkout with its company details, Billie performs a real-time credit assessment and approves the transaction, and an invoice with a payment deadline is issued to the purchasing company. The seller's payout is settled independently of the purchasing company's actual payment, and it is linked to Hecto Financial's receiving process in euros (EUR).
Because approval policy can vary depending on the purchasing company's location and industry given the nature of B2B, please share both whether a contract is available on the basis of a Korean corporation and your main purchasing customer segments during the consultation.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration will be possible for any specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through a consultation.
Confirm whether a contract is available under a Korean business registration
The integration method and priorities differ depending on your online sales channel mix, such as an owned storefront, open marketplaces, or a mobile app
Check in advance whether your products fall under a restricted category under Billie's merchant policies
Confirm compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
Hecto Financial receives the confirmed amount in euros (EUR), converts it, and settles with the Korean seller in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was chosen in the contract. The cycle follows the contract terms.
Note that EU consumer protection rules such as the 14-day right of withdrawal apply to B2C transactions, so in B2B transactions the return conditions set out in the contract and terms take precedence. Transaction terms should be arranged separately to reflect this.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the payment method mix best suited to the German market.
