TrueMoney is an e-wallet that started in Thailand and expanded across Southeast Asia, with Thailand as its home base and its largest user base. This page covers the requirements and settlement structure for Korean merchants accepting TrueMoney payments through Hecto Financial.
In Thailand, where QR payments are part of daily life, TrueMoney is the flagship e-wallet operated by Ascend Money, a CP Group affiliate. Cash top-ups are available across CP Group's distribution network nationwide, including 7-Eleven, letting it reach consumers without bank accounts or cards, and it has a particularly strong presence in gaming and digital content payments. Since Thailand is its home market, its acceptance footprint and user base are broader here than in other markets it operates in — the core reason to consider adoption in Thailand.
In Thailand, where the share of cardless consumers is high, paying from wallet balance is a practical alternative. If you sell small-ticket digital products like game items, webtoons, or music, or run a service whose main customers are in their teens and twenties, accepting TrueMoney can raise your payment completion rate. See the table below for how it compares with other payment methods in Thailand.
When a consumer approves a payment in the TrueMoney app using wallet balance or a linked top-up method (app authentication online, or presenting a QR code offline), the amount is charged in Thai baht (THB). Hecto Financial receives this in the local currency, converts it, and settles it to the Korean merchant in whichever currency was contracted — USD, KRW, or JPY. Since this is a wallet-balance-based payment method, please check the technical documentation before integration for how partial cancellations and refunds are handled.
Even without a direct merchant agreement with TrueMoney's operator, Korean businesses can consider accepting TrueMoney payments from Thai consumers through integration with Hecto Financial. Support terms (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by industry and transaction volume, so confirmation via consultation is needed before contracting.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration will be available for any specific merchant. Please confirm exact coverage and fees through a consultation.
Confirm whether contracting is possible on the basis of a Korea-registered business
The integration approach differs depending on whether you sell online only or also operate offline stores in Thailand
Advance confirmation is needed as to whether your products fall under restricted categories per the TrueMoney operator's merchant policy
Confirmation is needed that you comply with Thailand's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
TrueMoney payment amounts arise in Thai baht. Hecto Financial receives and converts THB locally, then settles to the Korean merchant in one currency of USD, KRW, or JPY as chosen under the contract, with the settlement cycle and fees following contract terms. Refunds are typically returned to the consumer's wallet balance, and since both TrueMoney's policy and Hecto Financial's operating policy apply together, please confirm the processing turnaround in advance.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review a payment method mix suited to the Thai market.
