Samsung Pay is Samsung Electronics' wallet payment method for Galaxy smartphone and watch users, operated in Europe as a tokenized card method in a subset of markets including the United Kingdom. The realistic approach is to treat it as a complementary method that extends coverage to Galaxy users after Apple Pay and Google Pay are already in place.
In the UK, where wallet payments are widespread, Samsung Pay is an option for customers who own Galaxy devices. As operated in Europe, Samsung Pay tokenizes a registered card and is used as an online method that calls up the stored card in a Samsung device's app or web checkout screen.
Samsung is the largest Android manufacturer in the UK smartphone market, so merchants seeking Galaxy user coverage typically consider it as a third option alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay. The benefit of adopting it on its own is limited.
When a consumer calls up Samsung Pay on a Galaxy device and approves the payment with biometric authentication such as a fingerprint, a token is transmitted instead of the actual card number and processed for approval. This authentication step satisfies the UK's UK-SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) requirements, and Hecto Financial collects the approved card funds in GBP.
Acceptance can be reviewed through Hecto Financial on the basis of a Korean corporate entity. The United Kingdom is one of the European markets where Samsung Pay operates, but the range of supported cards and channels varies with contract configuration, so it is recommended to consult on it together with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Confirm whether a contract is available for merchants registered in Korea
The integration method and priority vary depending on your online sales channel mix, such as your own store, open marketplaces, or mobile apps
Check in advance whether your products fall under categories restricted by Samsung Pay's merchant policy
As a non-EU member state, the UK applies FCA-supervised UK-SCA standards to card authentication, and Samsung Pay's biometric authentication is designed to satisfy these
The underlying card funds from Samsung Pay payments are collected by Hecto Financial in GBP, converted, and settled to Korean merchants in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was chosen at contract signing. Refunds are processed as cancellations of the original card transaction, and for sales to UK consumers, return handling — including the 14-day cancellation right — can be operated under the same framework as card payments.
The Hecto Financial team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the UK market.
