Oney is a 3-installment and 4-installment card payment service operated by Oney Bank, part of a French retail group, and it's used in France and Southern Europe. This guide covers which product categories it suits in Italy, where demand for installment payments is growing, along with what to confirm before adoption.
As Italy continues its shift to card and digital payments, choices are broadening not just in payment methods but in payment structures, and installment payments sit at the center of that shift. Oney is a 3x/4x card installment service operated by Oney Bank, part of the French Auchan retail group, letting consumers split a payment amount across 3 to 4 charges on a card they already hold. As a bank-licensed operator, its strength lies in a track record of bringing in-store installment demand into a financial infrastructure.
For merchants selling mid-to-high-value, planned-purchase products such as electronics, furniture, or sporting equipment to Italian consumers, Oney's installments lower the payment-time burden and help reduce cart abandonment. As a rough guide, Scalapay, a native Italian service, tends to suit fashion and other emotion-driven purchases, while Oney tends to be the better fit for practical, mid-to-high-value purchases.
When a shopper selects Oney 3x or 4x at checkout and enters card details, Oney runs an instant assessment, approves and charges the first installment, then charges the remaining installments to the consumer's card in sequence. Hecto Financial receives the merchant's share of the euro (EUR) payment, converts it, and settles it domestically in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was selected in the contract. Because this is card-based, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA / 3DS2) applies during authorization.
Integrating through Hecto Financial lets a Korean corporation consider adopting installment payments for Italian customers without entering into a direct merchant agreement with Oney Bank. Product conditions such as the eligible amount range for installments vary by business category and average order value, so they should be discussed with the sales team before signing a contract.

Confirm contract eligibility for businesses registered in Korea
The integration method and priority vary depending on the online sales channel mix — owned storefront, marketplace, mobile app, and so on
Check in advance whether your products fall under a category restricted by Oney's merchant policy
Confirm compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
Even though the consumer pays in 3 to 4 installments, settlement to the merchant in Korea is not split by installment. Hecto Financial receives the euro (EUR) payment, converts it, and settles it in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was set in the contract, with the cycle following the contract terms. When a refund occurs, the consumer's remaining installment charges are stopped or adjusted, and since full refunds under the EU's 14-day withdrawal right may be handled differently from partial refunds, it's worth confirming Oney's policy at the contract stage.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Italian market.
