In Croatia, where cards are commonplace and Android share is high, Google Pay is a wallet that can absorb mobile payments from both local consumers and visitors at once. This page covers the acceptance flow through Hecto Financial and what to confirm before adoption.
Croatia is a market where card payments are commonplace and Android share is high relative to the European average, and online card payments and digital wallet use have taken hold quickly since the 2023 euro conversion. Google Pay is Google's wallet service that tokenizes cards registered on an Android device or in Chrome, and it can absorb both local consumers' everyday payments and foreign visitors' mobile payments at once.
Because its one-click nature reduces input at checkout, adoption is especially valuable for conversion-rate improvement in mobile-heavy categories such as travel booking, ticketing, and digital services. If you are targeting both the domestic Croatian market and tourists, it is common to pair it with Apple Pay.
When a consumer selects Google Pay at the payment button, the card registered on their device or account is presented as a token, and approval is completed via device unlock or biometric authentication. This process operates as a flow that satisfies PSD2's Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements, reducing checkout drop-off. The approved euro (EUR) amount is collected and converted by Hecto Financial, then settled to the Korean merchant in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was set under the contract.
A Korean corporation can consider adopting Google Pay through Hecto Financial without a separate local contract in Croatia. The actual availability and terms (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by the merchant's industry and transaction scale, so consultation with the sales team before contracting is required.

Confirm eligibility to contract as a business registered in Korea
The integration method and priority vary depending on your online sales channel mix — owned mall, open marketplace, mobile app, etc.
Check in advance whether your products fall under categories restricted by Google Pay's merchant policy
Confirm compliance with EU payment rules such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
The settlement structure for Google Pay transactions is the same as for cards. Hecto Financial converts proceeds collected in euros (EUR) and pays the merchant in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was designated under the contract, with the cycle following contract terms. Refunds are processed against the tokenized original transaction, and if your business sees many cancellations within the EU consumer's 14-day withdrawal period, it is advisable to define a partial-refund policy in advance.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right payment method mix for the Croatia market.
