Riverty is a Bertelsmann-affiliated buy-now-pay-later specialist that rebranded from AfterPay in 2022. For Austrian consumers, for whom "receive first, pay by invoice" feels natural, Riverty offers invoice-based deferred payment and flexible installments. Here are the conditions to know from the perspective of merchants in Korea considering adoption.
Austrian consumers are accustomed to paying for online purchases by invoice after receiving the goods, a habit rooted in the German-speaking world's catalog mail-order era. Riverty is a German operator specialized in this invoice-based deferred payment model, and it emphasizes strength in managing the full pay-later lifecycle, from invoicing to reminders to collection. It tends to be adopted by merchants who value meticulous pay-later operations over the reach of a large global brand.
It suits categories with a strong preference for "pay after confirming receipt," such as apparel and footwear with frequent returns or seasonal gift demand, as well as brands that want to keep invoicing and collection communications consumer-friendly. Some merchants also prefer that, unlike Klarna, Riverty does not draw customers into a separate shopping app ecosystem.
When a consumer selects Riverty pay-later at checkout, the purchase is confirmed after a real-time review, and the consumer either pays the invoice amount within the set deadline after receiving the goods or switches to an installment option. The merchant's payout flow is separate from the consumer's payment. Revenue generated in euros (EUR) is collected and converted by Hecto Financial, then settled to the merchant in Korea in the contracted currency of USD, KRW, or JPY.
Since covered industries and review criteria vary by pay-later provider, you should confirm both Riverty's service scope in Austria and integration availability through Hecto Financial before contracting. Having return-rate and average-order-value data ready makes negotiating terms easier.

Revenue from Austria is collected in euros and then converted by Hecto Financial and paid out in whichever currency—USD, KRW, or JPY—the merchant has chosen in their contract. Under the pay-later structure, if a consumer exercises their 14-day right of withdrawal and returns the item, the unpaid invoice is reduced or canceled accordingly. Note that delays in syncing return data can result in unnecessary payment reminders being sent to consumers, which can hurt the brand experience.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Austrian market.
