Google Pay lets consumers complete payments on the web and in apps with just a few taps, using a card saved to their Google account. Because Malaysia is a country with a large share of Android devices in its smartphone market, it is a method worth adding as a default option for any merchant already accepting card payments.
Most smartphone users in Malaysia use Android devices, and Chrome browser usage is also high, giving a broad base of consumers who have saved a card to their Google account. Google Pay lets these consumers complete payment by pulling in a saved card without manually entering a card number, which has a real effect in reducing drop-off at the input stage in mobile web checkout. Because card details are handled as tokens, it also aligns with the central bank's push for stronger card security.
Adoption has the biggest impact for shopping sites with a high share of mobile web traffic, especially D2C sites where the friction of entering card details for first-time buyers hurts conversion. Because it does not reach consumers without a card, payment configurations should be designed on the assumption that it will run alongside FPX or e-wallets.
When a consumer selects Google Pay at checkout, the card saved to their Google account is passed as a token and approved through the card network. Hecto Financial receives the resulting ringgit revenue locally, and after currency conversion, pays it out to the merchant in Korea in the contracted currency, one of USD, KRW, or JPY.
A company in Korea can consider accepting Google Pay within the scope of a Hecto Financial integration, without a separate commercial contract with Google. Technical requirements differ depending on where the button is displayed and the integration method (web/app), so it is efficient to work out the applicable channels together during the consultation.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that a specific merchant can be integrated. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through a consultation.

Payments made through Google Pay are received by Hecto Financial in ringgit and, after currency conversion, deposited to the merchant in Korea in one of USD, KRW, or JPY, as selected under the contract. The settlement cycle and fees are fixed by the contract terms. Refunds are processed through the original card cancellation route, which may add the card issuer's own processing time, so please reflect this in your consumer-facing notices.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review a payment method mix suited to the Malaysian market.
