Discover is a US-based card network accepted at merchants worldwide through partnerships with networks such as Diners Club. Local issuance in Malaysia is rare, so this is less a method for local consumers and more a coverage-expansion option for merchants that target Malaysia while also accepting customers holding cards issued abroad, such as in the United States.
The core of online payments in Malaysia is FPX bank transfers, national QR, and e-wallets under the central bank's framework, and Visa and Mastercard dominate among international cards. Discover network cards have a thin local issuance base and so play a limited role in payments from consumers residing in Malaysia, but for a site whose traffic mixes in US-issued cardholders and other global customers arriving through tourism, study abroad, or overseas assignments, it serves as a complementary method that reduces payment failures.
This is worth considering for global stores serving customers from Malaysia and several other countries on a single site, and for industries such as travel, lodging, and education where payments from foreign customers are mixed in. For a shopping site aimed purely at local consumers, it makes more sense to put FPX, wallets, and BNPL in place first and treat this as a lower priority.
When a consumer enters their card number or pays with a saved card, the transaction is approved through Discover's global network. Hecto Financial receives the ringgit portion of payments from Malaysian customers in the local currency, converts it, and settles the amount to the Korean merchant in the currency set in the contract among USD, KRW, and JPY.
Through integration with Hecto Financial, a Korean company can consider accepting Discover network cards without a local contract in Malaysia being a prerequisite. The scope of network card acceptance (including whether Diners is covered) varies by contract configuration, so it should be confirmed during consultation.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that a specific merchant can actually integrate this method. Please confirm the exact coverage and fees through consultation.

Sales from Malaysia paid via Discover card are received by Hecto Financial in ringgit, and after conversion the Korean merchant is paid in a single currency selected in the contract among USD, KRW, and JPY. The payout cycle and fee rate are set in the individual contract. Refunds are processed as a cancellation back to the original card and may involve a processing delay due to routing through the international network, so include guidance on refund processing time in your consumer policy.
The Hecto Financial team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Malaysian market.
