Caja Los Andes is a savings and microfinance institution (Caja Rural) that grew out of Peru's southern highlands, centered on the Puno area. The option under consideration is for consumers to pay in cash at this institution's counters using a reference code issued after placing an online order, and the actual scope of collection partnerships as an online checkout method needs to be confirmed before contracting.
Payment habits vary significantly by region in Peru. In Lima, the Yape and Plin wallets have become part of daily life, but in the southern Altiplano (highlands) region, including Puno, local Cajas supervised by the SBS effectively serve as the everyday financial counter, and cash payment is the natural payment method. Caja Los Andes is an institution rooted in this region's agricultural, livestock, and small-business customers, and can serve as a cash payment touchpoint for consumers in that area.
This is a lower priority unless your merchant actually receives orders from customers in the southern highlands region. It is more sensible to secure nationwide coverage through PagoEfectivo and KasNet, and consider Caja Los Andes as a supplement specifically for the Puno region. However, whether this institution's counters are included in Hecto Financial's integrated collection network must be confirmed at the contract stage.
Assuming the structure is viable, the flow is as follows. When a consumer places an online order, a payment reference code is issued, and once they pay in cash at a Caja Los Andes branch, the collection record is passed along and the order is confirmed. However, since whether this institution is actually part of the collection partnership network, and up to which branches collection is possible, is not standardized, the scope of the partnership must be confirmed through Hecto Financial before integration.
Integrating through Hecto Financial allows a merchant registered in Korea to explore adopting Caja Los Andes payments without a separate local contract in Peru. Actual support availability and terms (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary depending on the merchant's industry and transaction volume, so confirmation with the Hecto Financial sales team is required before contracting.
※ This section describes a general support process and does not guarantee actual integration availability for any specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through consultation.
Confirm whether contracting is possible for merchants registered in Korea
Integration method and priority vary depending on your online sales channel mix, such as your own storefront, open marketplaces, or mobile apps
Confirm in advance whether your products fall under restricted categories per Caja Los Andes's merchant policy
Confirm compliance with Peru's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
Even when collection is viable, the settlement currency is not the local Sol. The structure is that PEN paid at the counter is collected and converted by Hecto Financial, then paid out to the merchant in the currency set under contract among USD, KRW, or JPY. Refunds for cash payments require a separate process, such as a return transfer to the consumer's account, so design the refund path together at the contract stage as well.
Hecto Financial's dedicated team can help you review the right combination of payment methods for the Peru market.
