Lotérica is a network of lottery retail outlets operated on behalf of state bank Caixa Econômica Federal, serving as a cash payment point for bills — such as boleto — issued from online orders. The key to deciding on adoption is understanding that bill issuance happens online, and only the payment location is the counter.
Brazil has more than 10,000 Caixa-operated lotérica outlets nationwide, functioning as an everyday financial counter even in smaller towns where bank branches are scarce. Even in an online payment market reshaped around Pix, a segment of consumers with cash-based income remains, and the lotérica counter is the actual channel through which they pay for online purchases.
For household-goods, entertainment, and game-top-up merchants aiming to cover rural customers with relatively low bank account and card penetration, as well as youth and cash-preferring customers, a payment mix with a lotérica payment point extends your reach. The issuance and expiration structure of the bill itself is covered on the Boleto page; this page focuses on lotérica as a payment point.
When a consumer places an order online, a barcoded bill is issued online, and the consumer takes it to a nearby lotérica counter to pay in cash. Payment information is relayed through Caixa and the banking network, and the deposit is typically confirmed within 1-2 business days, at which point the order is finalized. Because the transaction is created and the code issued entirely online, it's operated as an online payment method, and the received BRL funds are converted and paid out to the merchant in Korea in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, or JPY.
Integrating through Hecto Financial lets merchants in Korea consider bill payments payable at lotérica counters without a separate collection contract in Brazil. What Hecto Financial provides is online transaction creation and confirmation processing, while the in-person collection itself is handled by the Caixa network. Detailed terms are negotiated based on industry and transaction volume.

Confirm contract eligibility for merchants registered in Korea
The integration method and priorities differ depending on your online sales channel mix, such as your own site, open marketplaces, or mobile apps
Confirm in advance whether your category falls under restricted industries per Loterica's operator merchant policy
Confirm compliance with Brazil's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
A lotérica payment transaction is only recorded as revenue once the consumer's cash payment at the counter is confirmed, and confirmed funds are received in BRL and, after conversion, settled in the currency agreed in the contract. Refunds for cash-payment transactions are typically handled as a bank transfer to the consumer's account, so to respond to Brazil's consumer protection law (CDC) 7-day right of withdrawal, you should design your operations to collect refund account information at the time of order.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review a payment method mix suited to the Brazilian market.
