Google Pay is a service that enables one-click web and in-app payments using cards tokenized and stored in a Google account. Since the majority of smartphones in Brazil are Android devices, simply removing the card-entry step can meaningfully reduce mobile checkout drop-off.
Brazil is Latin America's largest e-commerce market with a population of over 200 million, and it has a distinctive feature: the majority of smartphones are Android. Even with Pix holding the top spot in online payments, card payments remain solid, driven largely by installment demand, and Google Pay removes the entry friction from those card payments to lift conversion among Android users.
It suits shopping sites with a high share of mobile web traffic, gaming and content services aiming to minimize in-app checkout steps, and retail merchants with frequent repeat purchases based on saved cards. An effective combination is to split roles — Pix for lower-priced items, Google Pay where installments or saved-card payments are needed — and run them side by side.
When a consumer taps the Google Pay button, the list of cards saved to their Google account appears, and selecting and confirming one completes the payment approval. Card details are delivered in tokenized form, so no original card number remains on the merchant's server, and the issuer's 3-D Secure authentication is seamlessly inserted into the payment flow when required. Hecto Financial receives the approved funds in BRL, converts them, and settles the merchant in Korea in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, or JPY.
Integrating through Hecto Financial lets merchants in Korea consider accepting Google Pay for Brazil without a separate contract process with Google. It works across Android web and app environments broadly, giving it wide applicable coverage, and detailed support terms are negotiated based on industry and transaction volume.

Confirm contract eligibility for merchants registered in Korea
The integration method and priorities differ depending on your online sales channel mix, such as your own site, open marketplaces, or mobile apps
Confirm in advance whether your category falls under restricted industries per Google Pay's operator merchant policy
Confirm compliance with Brazil's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
Google Pay revenue is received in BRL, converted, and paid out in the currency specified in the contract among USD, KRW, or JPY. Refunds are processed as cancellations of the original saved-card transaction, and having a policy that accepts and processes refund requests within Brazil's consumer protection law (CDC) 7-day right-of-withdrawal window can reduce local dispute risk.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review a payment method mix suited to the Brazilian market.
