Vipps MobilePay is a Nordic mobile payment company formed in 2022 through the merger of Norway's Vipps and MobilePay from Denmark and Finland. This page covers Danish market coverage from the perspective of the combined entity, while the practical details of app adoption at the local consumer touchpoint are covered separately on the MobilePay page.
In the Nordics, each country grew its own national payment app: Vipps in Norway, and MobilePay in Denmark and Finland. In 2022 the two came together into a single entity, Vipps MobilePay AS. In Denmark, MobilePay remains the consumer-facing brand even after the merger, so for the practical details of adopting it in the Danish market alone, see the MobilePay page. This page takes the perspective of merchants considering Norway, Denmark, and Finland together as a single track.
For a merchant targeting several Nordic countries at once — for example, outdoor and sports goods or a digital subscription service covering both Norway and Denmark — it is more efficient to view coverage in terms of the combined entity rather than examining each country's app separately. That said, since the consumer brand and receiving currency (NOK, DKK, EUR) differ by country, the conditions for each market still need to be checked separately.
For transactions in Denmark, the consumer taps the MobilePay-branded button at checkout and completes payment through in-app approval (the in-app authentication satisfies PSD2 SCA requirements). Hecto Financial receives the resulting funds in Danish kroner (DKK), then converts and settles them in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was selected. Norwegian and Finnish transactions occur in NOK and EUR respectively, so the receiving currency differs by market.
Even when considering multiple markets across Norway, Denmark, and Finland, the integration channel through Hecto Financial remains a single point of contact. The scope of support and terms for each market (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by country and industry combination, so please map out your target markets and then confirm with the sales team.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration will be possible for any specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through a consultation.

The integration method and priorities differ depending on your online sales channel mix, such as an owned storefront, open marketplaces, or a mobile app

Confirm compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
Transactions in the Danish market occur in DKK, and are processed in the order of Hecto Financial receiving the funds, converting them, and settling in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, or JPY. Even when operating across several Nordic markets at once, the settlement currency the Korean merchant receives stays unified as the single currency selected at the time of contracting, which simplifies exchange-rate management. Refunds are processed as a cancellation of the original transaction, and you should also check whether the transaction is subject to the EU's 14-day right of withdrawal.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the payment method mix best suited to the Danish market.
