Android use is overwhelmingly dominant in Indonesia's smartphone market, so Google Pay's potential reach is broad. However, its practical value as a payment method is limited to cardholding customers, so this page takes a conservative look at its scope of use and settlement structure.
Indonesia is a market where the vast majority of smartphone users are on Android devices, and its e-commerce sector continues to grow as the largest in Southeast Asia. Google Pay is a service that processes one-click payments using cards saved to a Google account on Android and Chrome. However, given Indonesia's low credit card penetration and Google's limited local wallet support, the actual user base is effectively limited to card-holding, mid-to-upper-income urban consumers and users with cards issued abroad.
For services with heavy Android in-app or web checkout traffic and a meaningful share of cardholding customers, such as subscription apps, games, and digital content, you can expect a checkout-shortening effect. For mass consumer goods commerce, it's common to build around virtual accounts, GoPay, and DANA, and position Google Pay as a supplementary option for card customers.
The shopper selects the Google Pay button at checkout and approves the payment with a card saved to their account, with card details passed along in tokenized form. Payment completes within the web or app itself, with no separate app switch required. Hecto Financial receives the approved funds locally in Indonesia in rupiah, converts the currency, and pays the merchant in Korea in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was set in the contract. Check the technical documentation for the range of supported card brands before integrating.
Google Pay integration can be reviewed through Hecto Financial on the basis of a business registered in Korea, without requiring a separate contract in Indonesia. However, the features offered for Indonesia, the range of supported cards, and the settlement cycle, fees, and currency options vary by industry and transaction volume, so confirm these with the sales team before signing.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration is available for any specific merchant. Please confirm exact coverage and fees through consultation.
Confirm whether a contract is available for businesses registered in Korea
The integration approach differs depending on whether you sell online only or also operate offline stores in Indonesia
Check in advance whether your products fall under categories restricted by Google Pay's operator's merchant policies
Confirm compliance with Indonesia's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
The currency paid to the merchant in Korea is not rupiah. IDR funds approved through Google Pay are received and converted locally by Hecto Financial, then settled in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was selected in the contract, with the payout cycle and fee rate varying by contract terms. Refunds are processed as cancellations of the original card transaction, with both Google/card scheme policy and Hecto Financial's operating policy applying together, so confirming the processing timeline is recommended.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Indonesian market.
