DANA is an e-wallet co-founded by Indonesian media group Emtek and companies in the Ant Group family, and its strength lies in not being tied to any single commerce camp. We cover the conditions, payment flow, and settlement method a merchant in Korea needs to know to accept DANA payments through Hecto Financial.
Indonesia's e-commerce market, the largest in Southeast Asia, generates tens of billions of dollars in transaction value each year, and competition among e-wallets such as GoPay, DANA, and OVO is fierce at the payment stage. DANA is a wallet jointly established by local media group Emtek and companies in the Ant Group family, and it's used broadly for online payments, remittances, and bill payments, backed by a user base reported to exceed 100 million and a general-purpose position that isn't tied to any single super-app ecosystem.
For general shopping malls, subscription-based digital services, and sellers of lower-priced everyday goods that want to reach a broad range of Indonesian online shoppers rather than only mobility app users, DANA is a solid first choice. In practice, it's more common to offer it alongside GoPay and other wallets rather than relying on a single one, in order to reduce payment drop-off, so refer to the comparison table below as well.
At checkout, the shopper is redirected to the DANA app or scans a QRIS QR code, pays with their wallet balance or a linked funding source, and approves the payment with a PIN. The approval result is delivered to the merchant in real time. Hecto Financial then receives the proceeds locally in Indonesia in rupiah, converts the currency, and pays the merchant in Korea in whichever of USD, KRW, or JPY was selected in the contract. Refer to the technical documentation for integration details.
A business in Korea can explore accepting this payment method through Hecto Financial's integration alone, without a direct merchant agreement with DANA's operator. Availability of support, along with the settlement cycle, fees, and currency options, varies by industry and transaction volume, so a consultation with the sales team before signing is required.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee that integration is available for any specific merchant. Please confirm exact coverage and fees through consultation.
Confirm whether a contract is available for businesses registered in Korea
The integration approach differs depending on whether you sell online only or also operate offline stores in Indonesia
Check in advance whether your products fall under categories restricted by Dana's operator's merchant policies
Confirm compliance with Indonesia's payment and foreign exchange regulations (see official sources below)
The merchant selects the settlement currency from USD, KRW, or JPY when signing the contract. Rupiah (IDR) proceeds generated by DANA payments are received locally in Indonesia by Hecto Financial, converted, and then paid out in the selected currency, with the payout cycle and fee rate following the contract terms. Refunds are subject to both DANA's wallet refund policy and Hecto Financial's operating standards at the same time, so it's safer to confirm the refund processing timeline before signing the contract.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Indonesian market.
