Online shopping in Chile runs on a mature card-payment infrastructure, and most smartphones there are Android devices. This guide summarizes the adoption points for Google Pay in Chile, which offers simplified checkout approval using cards stored in a Google account.
Chile is a market with mature e-commerce, one of the highest card penetration rates in South America, and it is common for online card authorization to be processed through Transbank's Webpay infrastructure. In an environment with a majority of Android users, Google Pay removes the friction of entering card details for every payment, connecting already widely held cards more smoothly to online checkout.
It has the greatest impact for mobile app commerce that needs a short checkout flow, digital goods and subscription services with frequent small recurring payments, and retail own-sites with a high share of mobile web traffic. Offering it alongside standard card payments can lift completion rates for Android customers without much added burden.
When a consumer selects Google Pay at checkout, the list of cards stored in their Google account is displayed, and they approve the payment by unlocking the screen or via biometric authentication. A token is used in the transaction instead of the actual card number, and 3-D Secure authentication per the issuer's standard may follow if required. Hecto Financial receives the approved funds in CLP, converts them, and settles in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, and JPY.
With a single integration through Hecto Financial, it can be reviewed whether a Korean merchant can add Google Pay payments for Chilean customers. Support conditions (settlement cycle, fees, currency options) vary by merchant industry and transaction volume, so confirmation with the sales team is needed before signing the contract.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee actual integration feasibility for any specific merchant. Please confirm the exact scope of support and fees through consultation.

The flow of funds is: 'Chilean consumer's CLP payment → local receipt by Hecto Financial → currency conversion → settlement in contracted currency.' The settlement currency is one of USD, KRW, or JPY selected at the contract stage, and the cycle follows the contract terms. When a refund occurs, the original transaction is canceled and returned to the consumer's stored card, and the amount already settled is typically deducted from a subsequent settlement.
The Hecto Financial team will help you review the right combination of payment methods for the Chilean market.
