paysafecard is a prepaid voucher payment method operated by the Paysafe Group, paid for by entering a 16-digit PIN purchased at a retail outlet or similar location. We outline adoption criteria for gaming and digital content businesses, which have a clear customer base that prefers not to use a card or bank account.
Even in Spain, where cards and Bizum account for most payments, there is separate prepaid demand for gaming and digital content payments that leaves no card or account information behind. Because paysafecard works through a PIN purchased in advance at a retail outlet or online channel, it covers minors, privacy-sensitive customers, and people without a card.
For businesses handling small, recurring payments such as game item and points top-ups, streaming and digital subscriptions, or online community services, this can add revenue without the burden of payment failures or chargebacks. It is not suited to high-value physical commerce given the nature of voucher limits, so position it as a niche complement rather than a primary method.
This is a prepaid flow in which a customer enters their 16-digit paysafecard PIN at checkout, and the amount is immediately deducted from the voucher balance to complete payment. With no account withdrawal or card authorization involved, chargeback risk is structurally low. The paid euro (EUR) amount is collected by Hecto Financial, converted, and then settled to the merchant in Korea.
Through Hecto Financial, a Korean merchant can review paysafecard acceptance, and confirming industry policy is especially important for this method. Coverage may differ for industries outside gaming and digital content, so confirmation with our sales team before contracting is required.

Confirm contract eligibility based on domestic (Korean) business status
The integration method and priorities differ depending on your online sales channel mix—own store, open marketplace, mobile app, etc.
Advance confirmation is needed on whether your business falls under a restricted category per PaySafeCard's merchant policy
Confirmation is needed on compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
paysafecard revenue arises in euros (EUR), which Hecto Financial collects and converts before settling domestically in whichever currency—USD, KRW, or JPY—was set under the contract. Given the nature of prepaid vouchers, refunds back to the original transaction may be limited, so for products subject to the EU's 14-day right of withdrawal, confirm alternative refund policies (such as re-crediting or separate remittance) before contracting.
The Hecto Financial team will help you review the right combination of payment methods for the Spanish market.
