paysafecard is a prepaid method that lets customers pay using only a 16-digit PIN, with no card or bank account required. We've laid out the payment flow and the settlement and refund considerations businesses selling games or digital content into Slovenia need when evaluating it.
paysafecard is a prepaid voucher operated by Paysafe Group, where payment is completed using only a 16-digit PIN purchased at a retail outlet. Even in a card-centric market like Slovenia, there's steady prepaid demand in the gaming and digital content space from users who don't want a card record left behind, or who don't have a card at all.
It suits content businesses with frequent small, recurring payments, such as game items or streaming and digital subscriptions, and it has the effect of capturing cardless customer segments such as teenagers. However, because refunds after payment are limited due to the nature of prepaid PINs, this needs to be reflected in your operating policy in advance.
When a customer selects paysafecard at checkout and enters a 16-digit PIN they hold, the amount is deducted immediately from that voucher's balance. Customers using a my paysafecard account can also combine multiple PINs to pay. Because this prepaid structure doesn't go through a card network, there are no chargebacks, but in exchange, cancellation and refund handling after payment is limited, which needs to be reflected in your order policy.
Through integration with Hecto Financial, Korean corporations can explore accepting paysafecard without a local contract. Industry-specific policies for gaming, content, and other categories, voucher face-value limits, and settlement cycles, fees, and currency options vary by transaction structure, so confirmation before contracting is necessary.
※ This section describes the general support process and does not guarantee actual integration eligibility for a specific merchant. Please confirm exact coverage and fees through consultation.
Confirm contract eligibility for businesses registered in Korea
Integration method and priority vary depending on your online sales channel mix, such as owned storefronts, marketplaces, or mobile apps
Check in advance whether your products fall under categories restricted by the PaySafeCard operator's merchant policy
Confirm compliance with EU payment regulations such as PSD2 and SEPA (see official sources below)
The amount a customer pays with a PIN is collected by Hecto Financial in euros (EUR) and, after currency conversion, settled to the Korean merchant in whichever currency, USD, KRW, or JPY, was set under contract. Given the nature of prepaid vouchers, refunding to the original payment method is limited, so when a refund is needed, whether an alternative payout method is available should be confirmed at the contracting stage.
Hecto Financial's team will work with you to review the right combination of payment methods for the Slovenian market.
