Monaco's payment environment moves as one with France's. It uses the euro under a monetary agreement, and its banking supervision and SEPA infrastructure follow the French framework as well. The SEPA on this page is a one-off push payment that connects the EPC schemes (SCT and SCT Inst) to the checkout via PSD2 payment initiation (PIS) on top of that infrastructure. It is not a mandate-based automatic debit or a deposit-waiting remittance, but a "Pay by Bank" method whose result is settled the instant it is approved in the banking app.
Monaco uses the euro as legal tender under a monetary agreement and follows France's SEPA payment infrastructure and supervision (ACPR / Banque de France), so SEPA Credit Transfer / Instant Credit Transfer works naturally, without the currency constraint found in a place like Liechtenstein. Monaco is not an EU member state, but because it participates in the SEPA schemes through French banking infrastructure, it effectively follows the SEPA instant transfer (SCT Inst) trend now spreading under the EU Instant Payments Regulation. Adding an open banking payment initiation service (PISP) lets you build a card-like checkout experience where the consumer never leaves the payment page and simply approves in their own banking app.
Unlike SEPA Direct Debit, which requires a mandate to be collected in advance, this is a one-off payment that the consumer approves directly each time, with the result confirmed immediately upon approval. For luxury memberships, private services, and high-ticket goods—where card limits and fees are often a concern—it is worth considering as an alternative for high-value, one-off transactions that lowers fees versus cards while still offering instant approval confirmation.
Taking a high-value order such as a private membership annual fee or a premium product payment as an example, the customer selects their own bank at checkout and completes authentication on the approval screen prepared by the payment initiation service (PISP). Payment is made against the account balance regardless of card limits, and on an SCT Inst combination the funds move within seconds, otherwise on the standard SCT schedule. The structure in which Hecto Financial receives the EUR, converts it, and settles domestically in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, and JPY is the same as in other SEPA markets.
Hecto Financial supports domestic merchants in adopting SEPA checkout in Monaco through integration with a PSD2-licensed payment initiation service partner. Because Monaco is part of the euro/SEPA area and follows France's regulatory framework, no separate local license is required, but it's a good idea to design your inventory and order confirmation logic around the fact that the result is finalized immediately upon approval.

The integration approach and priorities vary depending on your mix of online sales channels, such as your own site, open marketplaces, and mobile apps
Check in advance whether your products fall under restricted categories per the SEPA payment initiation partner's merchant policy
Since Monaco follows France's (ACPR / Banque de France) framework, you should also confirm the relevant EU payment regulations (see official sources below)
Given a market characterized by a high share of high-value transactions, the absence of chargebacks is a tangible advantage. A customer-driven push transfer has neither card network payment disputes nor the 8-week unconditional refund right of automatic debits. Settlement takes place after Hecto Financial receives and converts the EUR, in the contracted currency among USD, KRW, and JPY, on the contracted cycle. Where a return is needed, including the 14-day right of withdrawal under the French-derived consumer protection framework, a completed transfer cannot be reversed, so it is handled with a merchant-initiated refund transfer.
